Post Re: Feature requests for the next version
You know, right now I have a love/hate relationship with Movienizer - it is a really nice program and has great potential, but either I am blind (quite possible) or the obvious has been overlooked. For example: Why can't I get this simple answer: List all movies (with both comedy and action genres checked) with IMBD ratings over 6.5? Can't. Sorry.
One answer is to modify the scripts for my particular needs, but then why should end users have to be coders to make a program work well.
{Scream politely}
Boy, I hope I'm missing something here, like a setting in an ini file that will show all lists with the title, year, IMDB rating and my rating all showing. That would be swell.
Thanks for listening,
Andy.

Hi Vlad,

I had a problem in that anytime I wanted to rearrange my movie files or entire directory structures (within my normal root), each individual movie's path would require editing - not good for 800 movies.

For example, if you had all movies in one single directory, and decide you want to reorganise into new subdirectories like A-C, D-F, G-J, etc, then how do you do it without spending the next month editing each movie???

So I wrote a simple PHP script that does the following:
- Opens a Movienizer SQLite 2.x database
- Scans the active root folders for files (any type)
- Creates and array of all file paths
- Loops through each file, searching the 3 relevant DB tables for matching filename.ext
- If filename.ext match found AND overall paths are DIFFERENT, then update the DB path</li>
- At end, displays statistics, with links at bottom for simulation mode and update mode - always start in simulation mode.

This type of maintenance functionality could fall under the "Manage" menu - trust me, people will love this feature. Or, if you have PHP up and running, then just run the script. Sorry about coding in PHP, but it was the easiest for me at the time. You (or someone else) can please improve on it and code it in Pascal.

Cheers,
Andy.

Sorry for a silly question but, how do you run a your php scripts please???

There is a plugin now that allows changing file paths for multiple files at once.

i'm using english version of Windows.
Is there will be in near future support for Unicode for movienizer, so that users with not Russian windows could also see english, russian and other languages together?

I would like to see a way of exporting your list of movies as a text file! Solely for the purpose of easily listing your movie collection to friends over IM, or Facebook, etc. Seems like it would be easy enough to do, too. Or is this feature already available and I'm missing it?

I would say i see two ways at least already existing :
- use reports (this creates an excel export which can easily be saved as a csv or whatever)
- use an extra query from JeF's interface
;)

You are correct. I had to break my list up into three parts it was so long before posting it on a forum I use, haha.

OK, I would really like to see a feature which allowed you to directly open the folder the movie is contained in. Could be handy for when you have multiple subtitle files inside a folder inside the movie's folder.

Another thing that might be worth considering is allowing us to synch our Movinizer's to our iMDB accounts, so that it automatically pulls ratings from the site for movies we've voted on that are also in our collection.
